Mr. Draghi didn’t denied the expectations: he loaded and fired with his super-bazooka bringing to 0% interest rates (from 0,05%), diminishing the Deposit Facility Rate at -0,40% (from -0,30%) and increasing QE of 20bio/month.
All this, after having caused a quick EUR/USD drop, have spiked the cross reaching 1,1200 level, while at the moment is trading sideways at 1,1155.
Canadian Dollar (CAD)
All the eyes will be on the CAD today, with the February employment data. The unemployment Rate should be flat at 7,2% and the net occupation variation should become 10k from the previous -5,7k.
Technically there’re the conditions to affirm that the USD/CAD downside should be finished, but the oil price action is strongly affecting the downside movement of the pair.
In addition BoC rate decisions should additionally weigh on the downside move of the pair: another 10bp cut is already priced by the market within a year.
OIL
Both WTI and Brent have seen an almost 2% spike during the Asian session, after the speculation according to which China should increase his Oil demand after the PBOC decision to strengthen the Yuan, making the commodity more affordable.
With the WTI and Brent at $38,66bbl (+2,17%) and $40,73bbl (+1,70%) after the last events, the market expect to see the latest data for the US rigs (which lately drop to the December 2009 low).
